Amsterdam-based artist LAZA closes out 2022 for Darker Than Wax with his first solo release on the label, the groovy and introspective six-tracker Reflections EP. An up and coming producer, LAZA first appeared in the DTW orbit with a track on our Bodyclock Vol. 2 compilation in 2021, and has been making big moves this year, with an EP on INI Movement and a co-produced single with Gayance on Rhythm Section International. His most substantial offering to date, Reflections showcases the musicality and production prowess of the young artist.

Not just an adept producer, LAZA’s own vocals drive many of the EP’s standouts, setting the tone of post-pandemic introspection on housey cuts ‘Dem Good Ol’ Days’, ‘Doin’ Alright’, and ‘Time Slowly Slippin’. Funk-infused house roller ‘Workin’ All Day’ drops the tempo down into deep groove territory, while ‘Eat That Frog’ and ‘Get Into My Head’ bring in tougher electro-inspired vibes. Throughout the project, there is a consistency and polish present that go far beyond the artist’s young age, and display a keen understanding of what makes great dance music. Keep your eyes out, as LAZA is surely one to watch.
